What is shrink wrapping and why should I choose it for my boat?
Shrink wrapping is a protective covering made of plastic film that shrinks when heat is applied, creating a tight seal around your boat. It provides superior protection against weather, UV rays, dirt, and debris, keeping your boat safe and clean during storage or transportation.
How long does the shrink wrap last?
Our shrink wrap is durable and typically lasts through one winter season or storage period. However, longevity can vary based on environmental factors and handling. We ensure quality materials and professional application to maximize lifespan.
Is shrink wrapping environmentally friendly?
We use Bioaqualife’s biodegradable shrink wrap. When the shrink wrap is thrown away and taken to a landfill it will break down significantly compared to normal plastics in 3-5 years. This does not mean the shrink wrap will degrade on your boat. The plastic has to be placed into any land fill with the correct microbial conditions for it to break down.
Can you wrap boats of all sizes?
Yes, we specialize in wrapping boats of various sizes, from small personal watercraft to large yachts. Our team is equipped to handle boats of different shapes and dimensions.
How long does it take to shrink wrap a boat?
The time required depends on the size of the boat. Smaller vessels can typically be wrapped in about and hour, while larger boats may take longer. We’ll provide an estimate based on your specific boat’s dimensions and requirements.
Will shrink wrapping damage my boat’s finish?
No, shrink wrapping is designed to protect your boat’s finish. We take care during the installation process to ensure that the wrap is applied correctly and securely without causing any damage.
Can I access my boat while it’s shrink wrapped?
Yes, we can create access doors or zippers in the shrink wrap so you can easily access your boat for maintenance, inspection, or other needs during storage.
How should I prepare my boat for shrink wrapping?
We recommend cleaning your boat thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris that could be trapped under the shrink wrap. Remove any valuable or sensitive items that should not be enclosed during storage.
What happens to the shrink wrap after removal?
We have started using a Biodegradable shrink wrap made in the USA. All you have to do is cut out any vents, tape and string. Then simply roll the shrink wrap up into a manageable size and throw it in your waste basket. Bioaqualife’s testing shows about 80% degradation in 3-5 years, when in the correct environment.
